INTRODUCTION TO INTERNET |
INTERNET-
Internet is group of computer network extended world wide which uses “Internet Protocol”(IP) transfer the data to data switching.
DATA TRANSMISSION:-
It is a method of transferring message from one place to another.Data transmission are of two types:-
1. Serial transmission
2. Parallel transmission
Serial transmission:-
In serial transmission the bit of each bytes are send along a single path one after another.
Example - Mouse, Module
Parallel transmission:-
In parallel transmission there are separate parallel with corresponding to each bit of the bytes so that all bytes are transmitted at same time.
Example - Printer
Data transmission mode:-
There are three different mode characteristics according to the direction of exchange -
1. Simplex - In this data ia flow in one direction it means there is no acknowledgement send to the sender by the receiver.
Example - Keyboard, Mouse, T.V, Radio, etc
2. Half duplex - In this when receiver recive the data then receiver give the response. At the one time one line is active that time another line silence.
Example - Walkie-talkie
3. Full duplex - Both line are active at the same time.
Example - Teli-communication
SWITCHING METHOD-
The network consist of set of inter connected notes, among which information is transmitted from source to destination via different roots which is controlled by the circuit switching method.
Three types of switching method-
1. Circuit Switching - Communication via circuit switching emplies that there is a dedicated communication path between the two stations.Example - PSTN(Public Switch Telephone Network), B-channel of ISDN(Integrated Service Digital Network), CSD(Circuit Switch Data), etc
2. Packet Switching - The message are divided into packets before they send. Each packet is then transmitted individual and can even flow different roots to its destination.
Example - Internet, Frame relay, Apple tog, Goggle tog, etc
3. Message Switching - A mode of data transmission in which a message is sent as a complete unit and router via a number of intermediate node at which it is stored and then forwarded.
Example - Hop by hop, forwarding, UUCP(Unix to Unix Copy Protocol)
